Impressions of the Daytona 1000RS
Impressions of the Daytona 1000RS by Turin Saris
I bought my Daytona RS in June 2001. She had been sitting at a BMW dealership for over a year. I knew of the original Daytona's but had never known of this updated model. Needless to say it was love at first sight. The salesman had no clue what he had, so I weaseled out one hell of a good deal on a twelve thousand mile Guzzi. This thing is faster than a two wheel tractor has a right to be. Yikes!!! The suspension makes fast work a pleasure. MG certainly went all out on this bike. Fully adjustable WP upside-down forks, Marchesini alloy wheels, fully adjustable WP rear shock, and Brembo Gold Series fully floating disk brakes make my Jap race replica buddies scratch their noggins. Especially when the see the drive shaft. The fuel injection mapping is a different story. The on/off throttle was drving me nuts, especially in the corners. I fixed that with one of Will Creedons computer chips. Next to come are a stucci crossover pipe, a K&N filter, and a new set of Pirelli corsa dragon tires. The Dunlop sport touring rubber isn't cutting it.
I'll probably keep this one till I'm old and gray. Turin Saris, Scottsdale, AZ
